Immediate Release April 7, 2002
Anton/Bauer announced the introduction at NAB 2002 in Las Vegas of the newest battery to its broad lineup of power solutions for the broadcast and professional video industry. DIONIC delivers more power for its weight and size than any other Anton/Bauer battery thusfar and is the first battery to feature “RealTime™” an exclusive advancement of the Anton/Bauer InterActive Digital battery system. DIONIC batteries will run a typical camcorder (25 watts) for over three hours and can be mixed and matched to charge with any Anton/Bauer batteries on InterActive 2000 PowerChargers or the new TITAN series of power products.
“DIONIC is the size of our HyTRON 50 with 20% less weight and delivers 60% more power.”, said Shin Minowa, Vice President of Market Development for Anton/Bauer. “There have been well known performance concerns surrounding lithium ion cell chemistry since it first appeared in 1994. Our product development people worked very closely with the world’s leading supplier of lithium ion cells to design, engineer, and approve a new battery which was safe, reliable and had the features that our customers were waiting for. Adding DIONIC to an existing inventory is as simple as snapping the battery on to the industry standard Gold Mount.”
For the cameraman, aside from its power and weight, the most intriguing DIONIC feature is its RealTime™ display. Realtime is the first ever Digital battery to indicate both remaining runtime (hour/minutes) and fuel gauge (percentage empty to full) simultaneously. A simple glance at the RealTime display answers for the operator both “How full is my battery?” and “How much longer will my battery run?”. Unlike simple LED voltage displays, especially on lithium ion batteries, which manufacturers recommend not to rely on during camera operation, RealTime technology gives accurate indications when needed most – under camera load conditions. RealTime automatically compensates for the battery operating characteristics and environment to provide an unprecedented level of operating confidence.
DIONIC batteries may be used in conjunction with the new QR-HotSwap Gold Mount bracket to mount 2 batteries delivering 160 watt hours of power to any camera. Unlike “stacking” configurations, the QR-Hotswap allows either of the two batteries when depleted without powering down the camera. This feature is ideal for videographers who have requested real perpetual power or “hot-swapping” capability during long shoots.
